PRINCIPAL’S WELCOME

Principal’s Welcome

We focus on each student’s individuality. Central to our ethos is pastoral support through our Personal Tutors,

who are all experienced in their roles and share our passion for nurturing and challenging those in their charge.

Hello and welcome. I am delighted that you are thinking of studying here at SCC. SCC International Sixth Form College is a very special place. It is where young people can find confidence and a sense of self-worth, and ultimately flourish. Conveniently located in Colindale and Camden, we are an international college providing private tuition, accommodation and catering.

The college is co-educational and considers its primary strengths to be its small size, and its friendly, caring approach. We focus on each student’s individuality.

Central to our ethos is pastoral support through our Personal Tutors, who are all experienced in their roles and share our passion for nurturing and challenging those in their charge. We aim to specialise in pre-university education at A level and we have created an International Foundation Programme leading to university.

The College combines informality and an adult approach to education, with a disciplined system in which each student’s work is carefully monitored. We aim to establish strong academic foundations, achieve outstanding examination results and engender a mature and independent attitude vital for taking advantage of life’s opportunities.

Education is more than just grades. Grades are certainly the ‘passport’ that students need to move on to the next stage of their lives and that employers will take account of in the future. Moral values and the soft skills of empathy, communication, team-working and time management are just as important to develop the confidence that is so central to any young person’s future.

Finally, I am confident that when you arrive at SCC you will enjoy being part of our diverse, international family.

Pastoral care

Our goal is to help all students make the best of themselves academically
and through extra-curricular activities to prepare them for the exciting journey that lies ahead

Small tutor groups allow us to develop strong working relationships with the students, supporting them through the rigours of study, both academically and pastorally. An important part of our induction programme is building and developing this relationship.

Tutors meet on a regular basis with each tutee for a one-to-one chat and to discuss and help the student with his or her school life, and other challenges or opportunities that may present themselves. Our specialist Sixth Form tutor team prepare students to leave us with the skills they need to succeed.

Students benefit from tailored life skills, study and university preparation programmes. They are encouraged to develop their personal skills both inside and outside the academic environment.
